Letter, 1899 Dec. 6.

Letter from Robert Y. Vaughan to William J. Knight with Vaughan's account of how he helped guide Knight and Wilson W. Brown across the mountains in Tennessee during their escape from a Confederate prison in Atlanta. Knight and Brown, members of the 21st Ohio Volunteer Infantry, had been imprisoned because of their part in the Andrew's Railroad Raid. Vaughan contacted Knight after reading an account of Knight's escape in William Pittinger's The Great locomotive chase, [p. 332-333].
